Firm identification

Empower Capital Tax Advisors LLC is a New Jersey limited liability company. The firm operates from Ridgewood, New Jersey and serves clients in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.

Professional credentials

The firm's practitioners hold the following credentials:

  • Enrolled Agents (IRS) — federally licensed to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service in all matters, in all 50 U.S. states and territories. Practice is governed by Circular 230.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) — licensed CPA on staff for audit-adjacent work and engagements that require attest-qualified review.
  • Attorney — licensed attorney admitted in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Leads IRS and state representation, privacy and §7216 program, and entity structuring.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) — privacy lead for client data governance and WISP oversight.
  • Intuit ProAdvisor — certified on Intuit professional tax software.

Scope of practice

The firm provides federal, state, and local tax preparation; tax planning; and representation before the Internal Revenue Service and state tax authorities. We do not provide legal advice (other than tax representation services), investment advice, or insurance. For services outside our scope, we refer to licensed professionals of our clients' choosing.

Circular 230 compliance

Our practice before the Internal Revenue Service is subject to the regulations in Circular 230 (31 CFR Part 10). Any written statements on this website or in general communications are not intended or written to be used, and cannot be used, for the purpose of avoiding U.S. federal tax penalties or for the purpose of promoting, marketing, or recommending to another party any tax-related matters.

Fees

Fees are disclosed in our fee schedule and in each individual engagement letter before work begins. We do not accept contingency fees for tax return preparation. Representation engagements are billed on scoped milestones, not contingency.

Written Information Security Plan (WISP)

Pursuant to the FTC Safeguards Rule under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and applicable Treasury regulations, the firm maintains a Written Information Security Plan that documents administrative, technical, and physical safeguards for client information. The WISP is reviewed at least annually and after any material change in operations. Client-portal transmission uses TLS 1.3; storage is AES-256 encrypted.

IRC §7216 consent language

The following is the standard consent language used at engagement. Clients sign consents tailored to the specific engagement; the language below is representative and is provided for transparency.

Consent to Use of Tax Return Information. Federal law requires this consent form be provided to you. Unless authorized by law, we cannot use, without your consent, your tax return information for purposes other than the preparation and filing of your tax return. You are not required to complete this form. If we obtain your signature on this form by conditioning our services on your consent, your consent will not be valid. Your consent is valid for the amount of time that you specify. If you do not specify the duration of your consent, your consent is valid for one year from the date of signature. I, [client name], authorize Empower Capital Tax Advisors LLC to use the information I provide to Empower Capital Tax Advisors LLC during the preparation of my [tax year] tax return to (a) advise me on planning and strategy matters related to my tax position; (b) prepare any amended or related returns; and (c) correspond with me on matters related to the engagement. I understand that this consent does not authorize disclosure of my tax return information to any party outside Empower Capital Tax Advisors LLC without a separate written consent.
Consent to Disclosure of Tax Return Information. If, during the course of the engagement, I request that Empower Capital Tax Advisors LLC disclose tax return information to a specific third party (for example, a wealth advisor, attorney, or lender), I understand that I will be asked to sign a separate disclosure consent identifying the recipient and the specific information to be disclosed.

Important. If you believe your tax return information has been disclosed or used improperly in a manner unauthorized by law or without your permission, you may contact the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) by telephone at 1-800-366-4484, or by email at complaints@tigta.treas.gov.

Complaints and grievances

Concerns regarding professional conduct should be directed first to tax@empowercapital.co. Concerns about an Enrolled Agent's conduct may be directed to the IRS Office of Professional Responsibility. Concerns about an attorney's conduct may be directed to the appropriate state bar.
