How we work

From first email to filed return in five clear steps.

The same sequence we use for every engagement, tightened every year. Predictable timing, predictable scope, predictable fee. Every engagement runs through a custom-built advisory workbench that handles transaction reconciliation, scenario modeling, and audit-trail documentation — so your advisor spends time on judgment, not data entry.

How engagements work

Discovery, proposal, engagement letter.

Every engagement begins the same way. A short conversation, a written proposal with a fixed fee, and a clear scope before any work starts.

1. Discovery call

A 15-minute conversation to understand your situation, complexity, and goals. We listen first.

2. Scoped proposal

A written proposal with a fixed engagement fee — no surprises, no hourly billing. You see the number before you commit.

3. Engagement letter

Once accepted, we begin work under a clear scope and timeline. Material changes are requoted before proceeding.

The five steps

From engagement letter to filed return.

Discovery call

A 15-minute video call. We listen first, then describe scope and timing. You leave with clarity — engage us or don't.

Engagement & portal

Electronic engagement letter and §7216 consent. Your encrypted client portal opens within the hour with a personalized document organizer.

Preparation

Your named advisor drafts the return. Every position is keyed to IRS authority in our workpapers before the draft goes to review.

Review call

Screen-share walkthrough of the return. Planning notes for next year go into the file. Nothing is filed until you're satisfied.

Sign & file

E-signature via the portal. Direct e-file with IRS and state. Confirmation and archived copy in the portal, available any time.

Timeline

What to expect, week by week.

Most individual returns are signed and filed within 10 business days of receiving complete documents. Business and complex returns run two to four weeks depending on scope.

Week 1 · Intake

Discovery call, engagement, portal, and organizer. Documents flow in. We flag gaps quickly so you don't wait on us at the end.

Week 2 · Drafting

Return drafted against workpapers. Second-partner review runs in parallel on complex files. Planning notes for next year drafted.

Week 2–3 · Review call

Screen-share, question window, planning notes discussed. Changes made live or within 24 hours.

Week 3 · Signed & filed

E-signature, e-file, acceptance confirmation. Archived copy and IRS-acceptance PDF permanently available in your portal.

Security & confidentiality

How your information is protected.

Your documents never leave the encrypted client portal. We do not accept tax documents via email. Partner and advisor access is logged. Every engagement includes written §7216 consent before any use of your information outside of the return itself.

  • TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest
  • Role-based access, MFA required
  • Signed §7216 consent before any cross-use
  • Annual WISP (Written Information Security Plan) review
  • CIPP-led privacy and data governance
